What is the difference between Classic, Volume and Hybrid?

If you’re relatively new to the lash world or perhaps just curious about it all, you would be understandably confused when you come face-to-face with a lash menu. With so many options it can easily get overwhelming, so I’m here to do my best in explaining it all to you!
Classic eyelash extensions.
Ahhhhh, where our love affair with lashes began! The classic method involves one synthetic extension bonded to one natural lash. This creates a beautifully natural look, which doesn’t take a lengthy amount of time for application but is a little bit limiting in the fullness it can create, because if you only have 60 natural lashes per eye, we can only apply 60 extensions per eye. Classic is a great option for those that want a natural understated look, or simply a great entry point into the lash world for those that are unsure.
Volume eyelash extensions.
Also referred to as handmade volume or Russian volume, these lashes look soft and lush! Volume is a much more complicated technique where we take between 2 and 8 suuuuper fine extensions, fan them out into a V-shape by hand, and bond them to the natural lash. The beauty of this technique is that we can create any look from soft and natural to dark and dramatic, without overloading the lash line. Most lash artists will agree that volume lashes have better retention on the natural lash than any other method, as the lash fan “wraps” around the natural lash as it’s adhered. However, because of the handcrafted nature of this technique it can take up to twice as long as classic lash application. The advanced skill required and longer appointment time can make for a pricier service, however most that get these beautiful lashes will rarely switch to anything else.
Hybrid eyelash extensions.
As the name suggests, Hybrid lashes are the product of marrying the two eyelash extension methods; Classic and Volume. Hybrid eyelashes give you the best of both worlds, the simplicity of a classic lash and fullness and softness of a volume lash. Mixing both techniques results in a natural and slightly texturized lash look, and is a great option for a lash newbie who isn't exactly sure what they would like!
Pre-made Volume eyelash extensions
A couple years after handmade volume became popular, along came pre-made volume. A great alternative to hand making lash fans, struggling artists or those not yet trained in volume were drawn to these pre-fanned and pre-bonded beauties. Without having to make the fans in situ, this type of lash application is cut down in time drastically. The end result can look remarkably like true volume lashes, however the downside is that they are not as customisable. There are not as many options in sizes, lengths and curls as handmade volume, and because they don’t have the “wrap” that a handmade volume fan has when it bonds to the natural lash, the retention isn’t quite as good. Taking roughly the same time as a classic lash application, pre-made volume is an amazing option for ladies that are time-poor, but still want that super-full lash look.
So there you have it! I hope I have explained these methods clearly and have made your decision easier when it comes to choosing which lashes to book in for.
